Test our creation to make sure steering is turning in the right direction and that the wheels are correct. Now add Powered Large Wheels to the suspension we just placed, which are identical to the rear wheels from the original basic tutorial vehicle. Now we'll add the same suspension to the front and rear sides of the extension, in a similar way to what we did in the previous tutorial. Now we can fill out our extension with more 6-way pieces, making it 5x3, the same as the original vehicle. With the Powered Pivot highlighted, press or go to Show Advanced, then at the bottom of the screen, choose the keys to make our pivot turn when we turn the wheels of the vehicle. Now at the rear of the last 6-way that we added in Step 1, we place a Powered Pivot and rotate it once. This will help our articulated extension by increasing the gap between the main vehicle and the extension, so that the wheels don't rub against each other. Start by filling in the rear center gap, and adding another 6-way to it. Move onto to the next tutorial to continue adding even more advanced options to your vehicle, such as Thrusters, Weapons, Magnets and Joints.įrom Basic to Intermediate Adding articulation and weaponsĪs we continue into the Intermediate steps, we will be adding an articulated extension to our basic vehicle, increasing it's speed and suspension strength, and placing 2x cannons on top. Attach this to the front 6-way piece we added in the step above. To add the plow, go to the Utility category, and choose the plow object. We can add a plow object to the front of the vehicle, but first we'll need to add a 6-way connector piece between the front pieces: Place these wheels at the front suspension pieces of the vehicle, like so: Go to the Wheels category, and choose the same wheel from Step 5 in the previous table, only adding them to the rear of the vehicle this time.įor adding a wheel that steers, we now have 2 different options as of Version 0.109, Steering Large Wheel, or Combo Large Wheel.įor this tutorial, we'll stick to using the 'classic' Steering Large Wheel, but if you wanted to make your vehicle a Four Wheel Drive, you can use the Combo Large Wheel instead. We can now re-add the wheels back, but this time we'll add 2 different types of wheels. Now click the Side suspension piece, and attach them to the sides of the cab where the previous wheels were, like so: You can do this by highlighting the wheels, and press or Del to remove them. To add this to our existing vehicle, we'll have to delete the wheels we placed in the previous tutorial. Move onto to the next tutorial to continue adding some more advanced options to your vehicle, such as Steering Wheels, Suspension, and a Plow! It's a good idea to save our creation by opening the Vehicle menu (shotcut key: V) and pressing Save Vehicle. Use to move Forwards, Backwards, Left and Right. Now test your creation by pressing Spacebar, or by going to the top menu bar, and pressing Play. Place these wheels at the front and rear of the sides of the vehicle, like so: Select the Wheel category and choose Powered Large Wheel. Hold your Right Mouse Button and drag to orbit the camera around the highlighted piece. We can extend the sides further by placing a few more 6-Way splits.
Now we'll chose the 6-Way piece, and attach one to the sides of the cab, like so: Make sure you have Mirroring enabled (shortcut key: M), as this will save a lot of time, and most vehicles that we create are mirrored.
